and what triggered this thought??

i saw some disturbing images on facebook. thanks to the ability to 'tag' people to get their attention and the news feed which practically removes all form of privacy- the world is now exposed to images where some might be extremely disturbing.

well, some might be able to tolerate it, others like me, simply tak tahan weiyh. a few weeks ago, i saw a pic of this girl, who is an epitome of a cute high school japanese girl, u know with the uniform and all. but in this picture, which i'm sure has been photoshop'ed, badan die penuh ngan lubang.

a few days later, i say a similar pic. but this time, a breast with the same lubang2.

and today, some finger yang terpotong. initially, i thought it was a photoshop trick. but after staring at it,(only because i hope that i can find some flaws to convince myself that it is another trick), i realised that it is the real deal. man, i do not want to be in that person's shoes, ever. imagine seeing bits and pieces of ur fingers dangling. EEEEWWWWWWWWWWW

i mean, think abt it people. once, when society saw handphones as a necessity instead of a luxury, there were rules and regulations governing the usage of mobile phones.

it shld be the same for facebook right?? i mean, people from all walks of life has a facebook accnt nowadays. in every smartphones, there is an application for facebook. small businesses use facebook as a medium to advertise their products. once, indie bands used myspace to promote their music but they are now 'tweeting' and 'facebooking' too.

even my uni is using facebook as a medium to connect with the students. from the std hall of residence and society groups up to the hopper bus group.

so i believe that i have proven my point. facebook is arguable an important part of our everyday like. since activities related to it does effect the masses, why shldnt there be a proper act to regulate its usage.

and my 'law' ramblings stop here...

today, i had my first skype session with my extended family!!!!

there were a few new faces as mom found some relatives from Indonesia. so this June, mom and I are going to pay them a visit.

That means I have to brush up on my minang. this morning, our conversation was limited to simple sentences like 'di ma siko?' which means where are you know and 'aa kaba?' which translates to how are you. once they started asking more complex sentences, i had to rely on mom to translate em for me =P. sorry mom, lame tak dengar orang cakap minang. kecek kelate lain la, selalu dengar cuz kelantanese are everywhere. lols

I am looking forward to meet them again in june/july. which also means i will be discovering a new place every month.

where did you go?

being away from home is nothing new to me.

however, i seldom feel lonely.

this is mainly because, when i wake up every morning, i know that i am being surrounded by people who shares a common goal. In SSP, KYUEM and even in Junaco Park, (almost) everyone was selfless. the word 'I' seems so alien as it was always the word 'we' or us weaved into sentences.

but i dont have that feeling here in Nottingham. and it is such a disappointment . its not just 'them' but it is also me. never have i cultured the feeling of hatred in my heart. but right now there are so many people who i just cant stand!!! and they are lovely, but.......

one of them is so bloody annoying. i dont even feel like seeing that person ever again.

and a bunch of people are just so disorganised. i mean, come on. u volunteered to do something, so better do a good job. and quit being so fickle minded, especially those on top. and learn to appreciate what others are doing. dont take people for granted. we are not ur slaves u know. we are human too. do u think ur the only one who has a life?? changing ur facebook status everyday, saying ' i cant wait for this to be over so that i can get my life back'. this is when sha and i cakap 'ngeng'. hehe

i am sooooooo lucky to have sha here with me. and some new faces who i look forward to seeing everyday.

hence, it is no wonder that i look forward to every opportunity to get together with my SSP and KYUEM friends.

especially my wonderwalls.

what have i done??

1. i feel cheated!! i got the dates of my flights mixed up. thank God I will not miss any classes or anything. so i will arrive Malaysia on the 25th of June at 1320 :). InsyaAllah. and I will return to the UK on the 17th of Sept. :)

2. i did not do my research first before i bought my ticket!! and now i am angry at myself. from the reviews i read online, Kuwait air is horrible. MasyaAllah. i remember not liking the seats in Singapore Airlines when i travelled to Jeddah and that is way better than Kuwait Airs. haih. and its not just the seats, but on board entertainment selalu rosak and security is really bad. like they dont care if someone uses their mobile on board.

i dont mean to sound like a spoiled brat or something but i simply cannot sleep on planes. maybe this time i will exhaust myself before departing or take a sleeping pill or something. next year, when and if i come home, i'll be sure to fly with MAS or EMIRATES. another 100 pounds is a small price to pay for a comfortable flight.

i just hope i arrive safely. keep reminding myself that i am going back to see my family. i know mom is really excited to have all her children home for raya.

i'm doing this for you mom, because i love you. and i miss you. and i know i have not been calling home for quite some time now. i'm sorry

Malaysia oh Tanah Airku

just bought my ticket to go back during summer. initially cam malas nak balik but when kak nadi told me that mom is really looking forward to her first raya with all of her children at home, i changed my mind.

but the ticket is friggin expensive :(. tapi, given that it will make mom happy, i guess its worth it.

and there are friends that i wanna meet like Ara and Fiqss and and I wanna visit my atok's and my cousin's kubur and i want loads and loads of raya money :)

oh, not to forget, shisha and belicious and nak minum that yummy cendol kat hartamas and trips to bazar ramadhan with my sibs!!!!

okay, bile fikir balik, it worth it to go back.

Happy Valentines Day :)

today is V day, I'm not gonna go into how people claim that celebrating V day is haram etc etc. I just think that it is good that we celebrate the love that we share with others. it does not necessarily have to be your spouse or boy/girlfriend. it can be you pet, your siblings or your parents.

this year, i choose to celebrate V day with my Tort books. Location of our date- Library :).

I love this subject. learning it makes me a more responsible person. This area of law teaches me to whom and when i owe a duty of care, how the law defines a responsible citizen and how the law award damages to those who has been hurt.

alright, back to tort.

today, I attended my first UNICEF meeting!!!

and suddenly the guy sitting next to me turned to me and asked me 'kamu dari mana?'

in my heart i macam' gler cool mat salleh ni boleh cakap bm'.

turns out he is from indonesia :)

so i told him, 'you dont look like ur from indonesia'

and he was like' dikit pun tidak?' while squinting his eyes. ahh, so adorable

and and when he speaks english, my Lord, he sounds like a local.

freaking HOT!! and freaking tall too!!

sha, him and I tried our best to converse in 'bahasa' but it turned out weird. haha

so his name is Affendi. i hope i dont forget that the next time i see him.

but bile fikir balik, i think he will forget my name. lol

cant wait for the next UNICEF meeting ;)

Nottingham Malaysian Night :)

Getting to Nottingham.

Coach: go to Broadmarsh Station, Nottinham

Flight: nearest air port is East Midlands Airport

Train: there is only one station in the city centre and its called Victoria Station

I'm sure most of you dah datang mase notts games but u were stuck at the main campus only which we call university park. if u decide to come for the weekend, there are other attractions in notts.

shopping

we have 3 main shopping malls. if ur looking for high end brands, the place to go is The Exchange. For the masses like moi, there is always Victoria Centre and Broadmarsh Shopping Centre.

'touristy' spots

Notts' nickname is Robin Hood City. for a small fee of i think 4 pounds, you get to enter the castle. personally, i rase tak best pun kat dalam tu. so if u tak nak bayar 4 pounds, there is a HUGE statue of Robin Hood right outside the castle. u guys can camwhore kat situ.

there is also a man made cave in Broadmarsh shopping centre. for a small fee of 4.70, u get to go inside the cave. plus ade guide and they really 'act' their role well. i enjoyed exploring the cave.

wallaton park is the best place to go kalau tak nak bayar any entrance fee. its a super huge park yang amat lawa. nice place to just chill out.

Halal Food

there are a lot of halal kebab store in notts. we also have familiar names like Chicken Cottage and Maryland.

like any other town in the uk, ade jugak eat all u can buffet restaurant that serves halal meat and chicken. its called 'red hot' and its 7 pounds for lunch and 12 pounds for dinner.

so come to notts ya. if u dont wish to spend the night here, our neighbors are birmingham and leicester. its only like 40 mins away. i think. haha

today, i found out that Nottingham was originally called SNOTTINGHAM.. which is a combination of the words SNOT and HAM. hahahahahahaha. i just find that really funny ;)

the first settlers were called the snots because, well, diorang selalu lap hingus kat hujung sleeves la. and the word HAM is not a reference to ba alif ba ya, but apparently ham means settlement. (or perhaps there was a pun intended??)

when the french came , the could not pronounce the 's' so it became Nottingham. so i guess fellow brits in nottingham have a reason to thank the french after all ;P

my didadidu

Shahidah Deen,

I first met her in 2007 at Securities Commission. I suck at making new friends but somehow i instantly click with this girl. however,from the very beginning, she always saw me at my worst.

During our first conversation, I was bitching to her about another girl (who is now one of my closest friends). Every time she enters my room, in college or here in nottingham, it is always messy. She saw me do things that I should not be doing. She stood by my side as i burnt a picture to symbolize the end of a relationship. She never complains when i experience another culinary catastrophe. She has to listen to me babbling away on a daily basis. I always make her the subject of my test shots........ and the list goes on and on and on and on.......

and she never complains, not even once. i am really grateful to have her in my life. sometimes i think of her as St Shahidah.

sounds cheesy, i know. but i love my shadidadidu.

estrogen drama

so i have this issue with one of my house mates. i dont hate her, but i'll like her even more if she makes less noise, especially late at night.

so my other housemates and i confronted her a few mins ago. i was the one who knocked on her door and asked her to come down. i was the one who did most of the talking. and its no suprise that after the talk, she wrote on my fb wall. and this is what she said

I don't appreciate how you havn't told me once or mentioned anything to my face, yet you can just threaten me.

among other things, she also called me a two faced person. and why is that? because i am nice to her and yet i never confront her regarding this matter. so i told her that i did and she never listened. and about me being a two faced person, its common courtesy that i say hi to you and acknowledge ur presence when ur around. so, its also common courtesy that you should not make so much noise late at night, especially during exam season.

and about having fun and embracing uni life. well, i might be a boring person. but i sure know how to have some fun. i was tempted to get an amplifier when i bought rose, but i did not. because i know i will make too much noise and it wld not be fair for my housemates.

i am human too u know. i play music when i study. but only for me to hear, not for the whole house to listen.

and shld i add that u've dropped out from uni and yet u are still staying in this house. but did i point that out during our 'wall to wall' tennis.no, i did not. because i dont hate u Diva. u annoy me. and i would not have that feeling if u learn to keep down ur volume.

so yes i was the one who did all the talking just now. but what makes u think the rest does not feel the same way. All of us have friends over. but we inform the rest first and we stay downstairs and close the doors and windows in the living room so that the noise will not travel to everyone elses room. so the point here again is courtesy.

i know u will never read this. but since u are officially free from any lectures now (its not like u attended any pun before this), i hope that u will think abt this.

in life, people do wanna have some fun. but we come to uni mainly to get good grades. i dont know abt u, but that is how i feel. i want to drive a mini cooper when i turn 37 and live in a house with a garden. that means i have to get good grades. cuz u know what happens if i dont?i have to pay back bank negara 450k.

so yeah, i hope things will get better.

yes people, after one month of blood, tears and sweat, i have finally completed my coursework!!! Alhamduillah.
